About batScap
Background
In 2001, the Bolloré Group, ranked amongst the top
250 European companies set up a subsidiary, batScap, to develop and industrialize lithium batteries and supercapacitors. Electricité
de France (EDF) holds a 20 % share in batScap.
batScap is the result of more than 10 years of intensive research and development based on technological and industrial
know-how acquired by the Bolloré Group, notably through its
Plastic Films Division. This division has
become the worldwide leader in dielectric polypropylene films for capacitors, which are vital energy storage components for the
manufacturing of many consumer and industrial products.
Thanks to the technical and financial support of the Group, batScap is in a unique position to play a major role in the
emerging technologies required to meet new energy storage needs.
batScap expertise
From powder processing to final product assembly, batScap fully controls design and manufacturing processes of
Lithium Metal Polymer batteries and supercapacitors.
Using Bolloré Group's lengthy experience in the manufacturing of ultra-thin plastic films, batScap has set-up
two innovative and patented technologies based on extruded ultra-thin film assembly.
Raw materials, developed in cooperation with many industrial partners, are commercially available and cost competitive.
Our safe, environment-friendly and cost competitive production processes are particularly appropriate for mass-production.
Intensive high power test equipment are used to study product behaviour under various conditions, develop appropriate models
and predict life time.
